چکیده

This study aims to explain the effect of salt stress on Grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella. It includes two parts, first determine LC50 during abrupt increase in salinity 5,10 and 15g/L.While other part concerned with physiological effects gradual 5 10 g/L osmoregulation, by measuring ions concentration ( Na+, K+ ) blood plasma muscles, water contents muscles , numbers percentage chloride cells gills epithelia, beside studying expenditure osmoregulation rate oxygen consumption, levels glucose total protein plasma. The results showed that has a narrow tolerance 7.5g/L. Osmoregulation an concentrations ions( Na+ K+) increasing muscle salinity. These changes are parallel gills. consumption was increased .There decrease 10g/L which reflect energy for osmoregulation. concluded, does not have resistance high over g/L, acclimation occurred between new state homeostasis

Case report of chondroma in a grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

The grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) is a herbivorous, freshwater fish species of the family Cyprinidae, and the only species of the genus Ctenopharyngodon. Neoplasms in fishes are generally less aggressive than neoplasms in mammals and are most commonly discrete, focal and benign neoplasms. A 3-year-old grass carp with a big mass on the vertebrae was referred to the clinic. According to the...

Insights into the Antiviral Immunity against Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) Reovirus (GCRV) in Grass Carp

Global fish production from aquaculture has rapidly grown over the past decades, and grass carp shares the largest portion. However, hemorrhagic disease caused by grass carp reovirus (GCRV) results in tremendous loss of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) industry. During the past years, development of molecular biology and cellular biology technologies has promoted significant advances in the...

Evaluation of the toxic effect of peracetic acid on grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) juveniles.

OBJECTIVES The aim of present study was to evaluate the effect of peracetic acid (PAA) on haematotological and biochemical indices, antioxidant status, micronucleus induction and histopathological alterations of liver and gill in grass carp. METHODS Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) juveniles were exposed to therapeutic concentrations (1, and 3 mg x l(-1)) of PAA for a period of 10 days. S...

Protective Roles of Grass Carp Ctenopharyngodon idella Mx Isoforms against Grass Carp Reovirus

BACKGROUND Myxovirus resistance (Mx) proteins are crucial effectors of the innate antiviral response against a wide range of viruses, mediated by the type I interferon (IFN-I) signaling pathway. However, the antiviral activity of Mx proteins is diverse and complicated in different species. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In the current study, two novel Mx genes (CiMx1 and CiMx3) were identifie...

Effect of Dietary Energy to Protein Ratios on Growth Performance and Feed Efficiency of Juvenile Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

A feeding trial of three dietary protein (DP) (25, 35 and 45%) and four dietary lipid (DL) levels (3, 6, 9 and 12%) with different dietary energy to protein (E/P) ratios (from 5.93 to 13.84 kcal/g protein) was conducted to investigate the proper dietary E/P ratio for juvenile grass carp. After acclimation of 2 weeks by a lipid-free diet, fish were reared for 10 weeks in a water recirculation sy...
